Inside, a double open-fronted log-burning fireplace divides the room, echoing traditional Cape Dutch design.
These luxurious suites feature king-sized beds, daily refreshed linens, and en suite bathrooms complete with Victorian-style clawfoot baths, twin vanity basins, and large 'rainfall' showers. A large, unbroken, unflooded, volcanic caldera is the pride of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The crater, formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself some 2 to 3 million years ago, creating a natural enclosure for a spectacular variety of wildlife. A resident population of Ngorongoro lions have made their home here, as well as wildebeest, buffalo, zebra and rhino. After a delicious picnic lunch you will make your way out of the crater and back to the Manor at Ngorongoro to reflect on the experience of a lifetime.
Ernest Hemingway's "loveliest lake in Africa," Lake Manyara, is home to an enchanting set of landscapes and wildlife. As you enter, be greeted by giant fig and mahogany trees in the groundwater forest, which draw their nourishment from underground springs, replenished continuously from crater highlands above the Manyara basin. Away from the forest, on the fringes of Lake Manyara are the flood plains, which are home to baboons. Also here are hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeest, buffalo, warthogs and giraffe. To the south are the acacia woodlands where elusive leopards and lions can occasionally be glimpsed.
