Led by our concierge twice a week, the tour traces the architectural and human story of the hotel from its origins as a medieval inn on a Florentine trade route, through its life as a Silk Guild address and Grand Tour landmark, to the layered, fascinating building it is today.
Along the way, you'll discover the Bartolini family emblem and their Per non dormire motto preserved in stained glass, the extraordinary glass ceiling commissioned from Ulisse De Matteis in 1900, the original key rack that still stands at reception, and the frescoed rooms that have sheltered poets, painters and curious travellers for centuries.
