Initially built in the 18th century as an ostentatious family home, NH Collection Porto Batalha has a long and storied history. In the past, it has been a luxurious family home and a hospital. Plus, it has previously hosted everything from lavish balls to political coups. Today, the property is a state-of-the-art hotel that has retained its age-old splendour while also providing modern comforts and amenities.
Inside, the hotel contains 107 guest rooms and spaces that are spread across five floors. Options include spacious Family Rooms and luxurious Premium Rooms. Many of these inspiring spaces offer city views or relaxing terraces.
Elsewhere at the hotel you’ll encounter a wellness centre with a hydrotherapy pool, a water massage circuit and a sauna. Plus, massages are also available if you’re looking for extra relaxation. If you’d like to get active, there’s a gym and the option to try a personal training session.

From the train station
From Sao Bento train station the hotel is a 5 minute walk away. Follow the R. 31 Janeiro straight to the Praça de Batalha.
From the airport
From Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, you can take a taxi or the Metro Line E which will take you to the closest Metro Stop, Bolhao, in 29 minutes. From there, it´s a six minute walk along R. Catarina to the hotel.
By car
From Lisbon: Take the A1 towards Gaia / S. Ovido. Join the E1 and continue for 2 km. Stay right at the fork and follow the signs for IC2/Porto-Arrábida/Gaia Centro/IC1/V.na Castelo for 4.6 km. Take the exit towards Gaia / S. Ovido. Follow the N-222 signs and turn onto Av. Dom João II towards Praça Batalha Porto for 5,1 km. Stay left and continue on the Av. Dom João II, turn onto Pte. do Infante and after 400 m join the R. das Fontainhas for 350 meters. Turn left onto Av. Rodrigues de Freitas and again onto R. do Duque de Loulé. Turn right onto R. Alexandre Herculano. Follow the road towards Praça Batalha. The hotel is on the right.
From Braga
Take the E1 Antas, and join the N-222. Follow the road onto Av. Dom Joao IIR Carlos Malheiro Dias towards Praça Batalha. Stay left onto R. Nova de São Crispim and in 90 meters take the second exit at the roundabout on to R. Carlos Malheiro Dias. In 400 m take the third exit on the roundabout towards Rua da Constituição and continue on to Pte. do Infante heading towards Rua da Alegria for 1.7 km. Turn Left on to Av. Rodrigues de Freitas Praça Poveiros and continue to R. Campinho. Stay right on to Rua de Entreparedes for 200m and at R. Alexandre Herculano continue to head right towards Praça Batalha. The hotel is on the right.
