Anantara Kihavah’s SEA Named World’s Leading Underwater Hotel Restaurant at the World Travel Awards 2017

The Maldives is defined by luxury hospitality and one-of-a-kind destination experiences – spa treatments overwater, diving UNESCO Biosphere Reserve waters, stargazing out over tranquil lagoon. The 2017 World Travel Awards honours such innovative excellence, with Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas recognised for ‘World's Leading Underwater Hotel Restaurant’.

The multi award-winning SEA is part of the island’s unique dining complex, with four restaurants and bars – SEA.FIRE.SALT.SKY – perched out over the turquoise lagoon. Encompassing the world’s first underwater wine cellar, SEA offers international and Maldivian cuisine paired with Old and New World wines.

An intimate, octagonal-shaped setting highlights schools of tropical fish darting in and out of the corals that surround, reflected in the mosaic mirrored ceiling. A wine menu spanning nine decades is expertly crafted by the Resident Wine Guru.

Says General Manager, Dylan Counsel, “This is a great honour, and I would like to thank the Anantara Kihavah team for their dedication to elevating the guest experience every time, from unparalleled innovative cuisine to a perfected ambience in a truly stunning setting. SEA brings dining to a whole new level, and we are proud that it is such a sought-after and recognised experience”.

This is the third consecutive year that SEA has won the award. Anantara Kihavah was also named ‘Maldives’ Leading Villa Resort’ earlier in the year. The World Travel Awards are known as “the Oscars of the travel industry”, the epitome of excellence and glamour, with this year’s awards the 24th in an illustrious history.
