THE PER AQUUM STORY
Driven by the leading minds in hospitality, PER AQUUM is a joint venture strategic partnership between Minor Hotels, a hotel owner, operator and investor founded and helmed by American-born Thai entrepreneur Mr. William E. Heinecke, and Universal Enterprises PTY Ltd., principalled by the Maniku family, who pioneered tourism in the Maldives.
PER AQUUM was born in the Maldives in 2003 and rose to fame with the launch of PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi in 2004. Desert Palm PER AQUUM brought the brand's signature style to Dubai with its opening in 2008. In 2012, PER AQUUM Niyama in the Maldives followed suit.
Minor Hotels acquired a 50% stake in the company in 2013, strengthening PER AQUUM's resources with an extensive network of sales & marketing, development, operational and technical services. The partnership enables PER AQUUM to leverage the powerhouse of expertise that manages Minor Hotels' growing portfolio of over 120 properties.
From the world-first underwater spa of PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi to the avant-garde interpretation of Arabian style and unique lush green polo estate setting at Desert Palm PER AQUUM to PER AQUUM Niyama's 24-hour underwater imagination space, the multi-use venue Subsix, the brand carves out a position at the cutting-edge in hospitality. Dozens of awards honour the brand's innovative spirit and continuous emphasis on improvement and evolution.
Essque Zalu Zanzibar will rebrand as PER AQUUM's first African property, in 2017. The PER AQUUM team is actively exploring opportunities worldwide and aims to expand its collection with several high-profile additions over the next five years.
