Launch of Oaks Woolloongabba marks 10th Brisbane property for Oaks

Leading accommodation provider Oaks Hotels & Resorts, a division of Minor Hotel Group (MHG), is set to increase its Brisbane footprint in Q1 2016, having acquired the management and letting rights of Brisbane’s newest apartment development, Radius Apartments, in partnership with Brisbane-based developer Majella.

Officially opening in March 2016 as Oaks Woolloongabba, the addition of the new-build Oaks Woolloongabba, located in the vibrant, inner-city suburb of Woolloongabba, will grow the hotelier’s Brisbane inventory to over 1400 rooms, while also marking the 10th Brisbane property under its management, reinforcing its position as one of Brisbane’s largest accommodation providers.

Chief Operations Officer of Oaks Hotels & Resorts, Mr Mike Anderson, said the decision to add another Brisbane hotel to the group’s network was fuelled by a strong demand for self-contained apartment accommodation within close proximity to the city’s key business, health, education and entertainment precincts.

"Oaks Woolloongabba complements our existing Brisbane portfolio perfectly, which comprises nine hotels in the CBD, Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills, and will provide another well-positioned, inner-city address for travellers to choose when visiting Brisbane.

"Woolloongabba continues to emerge as one of Brisbane’s most progressive suburbs, with billions of dollars of infrastructure and urban renewal projects already in progress and earmarked for the future. We are confident this area is in a strong position for future growth and we are thrilled to have secured a product that will appeal to both the corporate and leisure markets as the demand for central accommodation swells," said Mr Anderson.

Located on O’Keefe Street, the 80-key Oaks Woolloongabba offers a selection of brand new, stylishly-appointed one and two bedroom apartments, featuring king size beds, contemporary décor, spacious living and dining areas, full kitchens with stainless steel appliances, laundry facilities, study nooks, Foxtel and expansive private balconies.

Oaks Woolloongabba will connect guest with Brisbane’s CBD and its surrounding suburbs and attractions seamlessly, including the Brisbane Cricket Ground, otherwise known as ‘The Gabba’, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Queen Street Mall, South Bank, West End and the heritage listed Princess Theatre. It is also within close proximity to Griffith University, the Queensland University of Technology and University of Queensland.

Leisure facilities include a vibrant rooftop precinct, boasting panoramic city views, a 20-metre lap pool, steam room and two large spas surrounded by timber sun loungers, grassy terraces and tiered viewing decks.

Oaks Woolloongabba is located just five kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD, a 20-minute drive from the Brisbane Domestic and International Airport and 10 minutes from the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
