On the Peak Downs Highway in Central Queensland approximately 200 kilometres south-west of Mackay, lies the mining town of Moranbah. Although one of the youngest townships in Queensland, Moranbah has plenty of character and rural charm. If you’re visiting with the kids, the city centre boasts a family friendly water feature and new child's play area for entertaining the kids, while you enjoy a coffee break with friends at the local bakery.

The surrounding Isaac Region has a range of activities and attractions on offer from fossicking for gold, to incredible 360 degree views from the mountain tops to attending a local race day or even fishing for local red claw.  Just 1 hr 20 minutes’ drive sits Clermont, rich in history, it is known for its gold rush days and annual Gold Festival. Between the two towns sits the Peak Mountain Range, a must-do on the road trip due to its unique cone shaped peaks offering stunning vistas of the undulating countryside.
